The surface is two-dimensional.
Four-Dimensional Painting:
Projecting the vision of the fourth dimension onto this two-dimensional space.
The artistic conquest of the fourth dimension: Early 20th-century artists of Cubism, Futurism, and Surrealism sought to express the fourth dimension within two-dimensional works. They transcended three-dimensional representation, creating a world of infinite possibilities through virtual four-dimensional interpretations.
However, they did not establish a method to truly integrate the fourth dimension into the two-dimensional plane.
The fourth dimension is a realm invisible from the third dimension, yet it is intricately connected to our three-dimensional world.
When we look at an apple, strictly speaking, we only see half of it.
The invisible half is the fourth dimension.
By hypothesizing the invisible world as the fourth dimension, I embed cubic structures within the two-dimensional plane to represent both space and the objects within.
It is because of this approach that my work is defined as Four-Dimensional Painting.
This world is veiled by “Shikimaku” — the curtain of color and form.
No one can escape from this world defined by the veil of Shikimaku.
